Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women, right after breast cancer. Every year in the Czech Republic, around 750 new cases of cervical cancer and up to 300 deaths from cervical cancer are reported. Cervical cancer is mainly caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is transmitted not only through sexual intercourse but also through poor hygiene.
